A Nicholas Furby is recorded in connection with a "lay subsidy" of 6/8d at Strete in 1297. There was also a Richard Furby and John Furby connected with Strete in 1327 and 1332 respectively. At Carshalton, there was a Robert and Margaret Ferby in 1503. The old parish register of Dorking records the marriage of Phillip Furby to Jane on 25th Septermber 1597. Later, the widow Jane Furby's marriage to Nick Castleman on 23rd October 1620 is also entered.
