My uncle, James Edward (Jimmy) Furby who was born on the 4th of January 1931 is buried at Kanatte Cemetery in Colombo. He died at Mount Lavinia, Colombo in a swimming accident on 18th of October 1958 aged just 27 years.

Jimmy was the last person in our branch of the family (based at Liverpool from 1865/1866.) to have the surname "Furby", being the only son of my grandparents and also the only male descendent of my great grandfather James Joseph Furby with the surname by that time. All his sisters, including my mother Sarah Randall (Sadie) Furby, had changed their surnames on marriage. Jimmy himself had not been married and therefore had no children.
