A John Furby, son of William Furby was christened on 25nd December 1646 at Whorlton.

Francis Furby [see photo] was born around 1784 in Darlington and died there in 1861. He fought in the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, a medal having been passed down to his descendents. His son John Furby emigrated to the USA together with his wife Mary and their children and has descendents there. Margaret Furby, believed to be his sister married a William Lear at Marylebone, London in 1797.
